Precision-Sourced. Evidence-Backed. Exceptional.

Independent European laboratories test our coffee for key contaminants, including mould‑related mycotoxins such as ochratoxin A, to ensure levels remain well below strict EU safety limits – a standard you can taste and feel. Each bean is carefully selected. With smooth, steady caffeine from specialty‑grade Arabica, you get improved alertness, reaction time and focus, as shown in controlled trials¹.

High‑quality Arabica is naturally rich in chlorogenic acids, a group of polyphenols that contribute to coffee’s antioxidant capacity and have been linked to several health benefits.

We don't stop at the bean. We source exclusively from certified organic farms in Peru's high-altitude growing regions (1,500–2,200m), where lower oxygen levels slow bean maturation, driving the development of complex aromatic compounds and a richer flavour profile measurable in every cup.

Backed by scientifically studied superfoods calibrated to work alongside caffeine, Not Your Average is designed to support wellbeing simply by drinking your morning coffee. We are committed to ensure your morning ritual delivers a health-supporting formulation not just caffeine.

Great coffee. Clean sourcing. No pseudoscience.

Why Organic Peruvian Arabica?

Why Organic Peruvian Arabica?

Our beans are grown organically in the Andean highlands, where altitude, climate and soil composition converge to produce a distinctly smooth cup - characterised by citric acidity, floral aromatics and balanced sweetness.

Organic farming here isn't incidental. Synthetic pesticides commonly used in conventional agriculture - including organophosphates (OP) and neonicotinoids (NEO) - have been shown to disrupt hormones and even be neurotoxic² in chronic low-dose exposure studies. By eliminating these inputs entirely, organic cultivation protects both the soil microbiome and your health. The result: preserved biodiversity, long-term soil fertility, and a chemically cleaner cup - with the sensory complexity to match.

Functional Ingredients

Functional Ingredients

Each superfood in our blends is selected for a studied mechanism of action, not trend appeal. The health case for our functional ingredients rests on their bioactive compounds - polyphenols, adaptogenic phytochemicals, medium-chain triglycerides, amino acids - each with their own health-enhancing benefits.

Antioxidants & Cardiovascular Health
Coffee and raw cacao are among the richest dietary sources of polyphenols, which neutralise reactive oxygen species and support endothelial function. Human studies link regular intake to meaningful improvements in cardiovascular and cognitive health.

Focus without the crash
Found naturally in tea, L-theanine is an amino acid that promotes alpha brain wave activity - associated with calm, alert attention. It’s also effective for reducing stress and, when combined with caffeine, measurably improves selective attention and reaction time. It's why our blends feel better than the standard cup.

Fuel for Your Brain
Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are rapidly converted to ketones - an efficient alternative fuel for neurons (brain cells). Research show they can support certain cognitive functions and mental energy. Stress Resilience, even better Sleep One of the most clinically studied adaptogens, ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is backed by multiple studies. It effectively reduces cortisol levels, perceived stress and anxiety. Some trials even report improved sleep quality.

Hormonal Balance & Vitality
Maca root has been shown to improve libido and sexual function via its alkaloid and glucosinolate content.

Sweetness Without the Spike
Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit that contributes a natural caramel sweetness without glycaemic impact. Due to its high fiber content it also helps to support gut health and longevity.

Third-Party Testing

Third Party Testing

At Not Your Average, we pride ourselves on the high quality of our coffee. One way we ensure this is through rigorous toxin testing, an essential process that protects our customers from harmful substances like mycotoxins, pesticides and heavy metals.

The process begins with sampling beans from various regions within Peru to obtain a representative analysis. These samples are cleaned, dried and ground into a fine powder for accurate testing. We then use solvents such as water, methanol, or acetonitrile to isolate toxins from the coffee matrix.

Advanced techniques, including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), detect and quantify mycotoxins and pesticides. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is used to analyze heavy metals. These highly sensitive methods can detect even trace amounts of contaminants.

Throughout the process, strict quality control measures are maintained. We use standard reference materials, conduct replicate tests and employ internal controls to ensure accuracy and reliability. The results are compiled into a detailed report, comparing toxin levels to regulatory limits set by agencies like the FDA and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Based on these results, we decide whether the batch meets our high standards of quality. If it does, we feel 100% confident that it is of a sufficiently high standard to offer to our loyal customers.
